Children who are well-nourished typically have higher mental performance than under-nourished children in terms of being healthier, more focused, and more attentive. Children who are served food in the Child Care Food Program frequently have healthier meals than those who bring food from home. The CCFP assists family day care facilities with putting "best practices" into place to ensure kids have access to various nourishing foods for healthy growth and to lower the risk of obesity.

Family day care homes participating must be licensed by the appropriate childcare licensing authority and must also be affiliated with a sponsoring organization. Child Watch, Inc. is your sponsoring agency in Sarasota, Manatee and Charlotte counties. The CCFP will reimburse up to two meals and one snack or two snacks and one meal per child daily.
